The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home

Lack of character often dictates how we behave. Can a community develop a culture of character that discourages crime? How do we change this around to develop individuals with good character who will have positive impact within the community?

Lack of character often dictates how we behave.
Pupil who allegedly killed bully

The 18-year-old Phineas Xulu Secondary School pupil was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly took the gun belonging to his mother, a metro police officer, to school.

He allegedly shot dead Grade 10 pupil, Nkululeko Ndlovu, when he and his friends confronted him in a class on Tuesday.  The general feeling was that he got what he deserved.
“We are relieved that he is dead. We will now eat our food and spend our money,” one pupil told the newspaper. Our societies have struggled to know there are limits and consequences in the decision we take. Which brings me to question: What is the State of being in our society?

Sometimes our emotions develop in ways that cause us harm. We view life through brutal experiences, we grow up with hurt, and then we act or react from that damaged place, with that damaged vision. We do hurt ourselves without thinking: We lie when we are afraid; we attack when we’re made to feel wrong, and we hide when we feel inadequate. Those who loved us when we were young(who raised us, guided us & educated us) harshly instead of gently, we are affected by what they did. What you do, how you do it affects everyone and everyday thing. Its clear that without a serious focus on dealing with character flaws we will keep on seeing the unwanted fruits such as anger, sadness and the desperation.

No amount of (rehabilitation Centre’s ) can help you until you ready to receive that info and apply it in your daily life. Acknowledgement is recognition of truth which is to integrate action.

We don’t have to look far to start seeing the fruits of bad character
·        Teenager shot dead a Grade 10 pupil
·        School violence linked to violent homes
·        Schoolboy arrested for unlicensed gun
·        Two school pupils arrested for murder
·        Youth’s kill teacher

Anger, fear and sadness are universally felt by everyone.
Can a community develop a culture of character that discourages crime? How do we change this around to develop individuals with good character who will have positive impact within the community?

“It is imperative that Gauteng schools have a working relationship with the police and social workers from the local police station,” education spokesman Khume Ramulifho said.
We all have a role to play and choose which character we will develop in ourselves and others. If our communities had more citizens of good character, and  fewer citizens of bad character, we would strongly impact crime and society as a whole.
